The Fall of Man: Story of Adam (A.S)

Allah’s granting:

Allah created everything for man to live on before the first man stepped on this planet. Man’s basic needs were air, water, fire, and soil; food was also essential to help the human body strengthen. He also created huge mountains, flowering springs, splashing rivers, endless seas, the moon, the sun, stars, and everything else required for human comfort.

Many hidden secrets lie within the course of nature. All that was required to decode these riddles was a person of brains, bravery, and wisdom. Before sending a man into this world, Allah bestows an incredible ability to think and all these abilities. So, man must puzzle up all this enigma.

Foremost:

The human race began from Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him), and all humanity are descendants of Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him).

A Dialogue:

Allah revealed to the angels his purpose to create Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him) and said, “I am going to create my Caliph on earth.”

 The Angels protested, saying:

“Are you about to create man on earth?” Man will cause mischief on the earth and shed blood. We declare Your purity and thank You; are we not enough for worship?

Allah answered, “You do not know what I know.”

Creation:

Allah created a statue of Hazrat Adam (peace be upon him), gave him a perfect shape, and fashioned every part of his body with beauty. Then Allah infused his soul into him.

Supremacy of Man (Knowledge):

To demonstrate Adam’s dominance over angels, Allah questioned angels about things Adam knew, but they did not.

They responded, “We have no idea; you are the most knowledgeable. We only know what you’ve taught us about great wisdom and blessings.”

Allah said, “O Adam, tell these angels what you know. When Adam taught all those things, Allah said to the angels: “I would not have told you; I know all that is hidden within the heavens and the earth, and all you reveal and conceal”.

Bowing Angels:

Allah Almighty instructed the angels to kneel to Adam, and all of the angels did so. But Iblees refused to prostrate as he was one with pride.

Accursed ( ٱلرَّجِيْم):

“What prevented you from kneeling when I told you to?” Allah inquired. Iblees responded, “You created man from clay, and I am made of fire”.

In response to Iblis’ refusal to bow, Allah said, “Go down from the sky, you arrogant and humiliated,”. Iblees pleaded, “Give me respite until the Day of Resurrection,”. “You have been granted a reprieve,” Allah responded. Iblees stated, “I will mislead your servants and trap them from all sides. They will not even thank you.”

Allah commanded Adam (peace be upon him). “O Adam, you and your wife can live in Paradise and eat everything you want freely”. However, Allah forbade them not to go near the specific tree.

The First Mistake:

The devil whispered in Adam and Hazrat Bibi Hawa’s hearts, “Your Lord forbids you both from going near this tree so you may live eternally. I am your well-wisher. Hazrat Adam and Eve tasted the fruit of the tree.

Allah called them and said: “Didn’t I forbid you to go near this tree and say Satan is your enemy.”

Hazrat Adam and Hawa made a mistake by neglecting to obey Allah’s command, and both regretted it.

Pleadings:

Adam begged for forgiveness from Allah and prayed: O my Lord, we have mistreated ourselves; if you do not have mercy on us and do not forgive us, then we will be among the losers”.

Divine Remedy:

Allah expelled them from heaven and said: You will be enemies of each other, and until a specific time, you both have to stay on earth. If any instruction comes from Me, whoever obeys this instruction will not be harmed by anything. There will be no fear and no sorrow, for whoever turns away from my advice, life in this world will be difficult for him, and he will be raised blind on the Day of Resurrection.

Straw to the drowning:

Adam lost his hearing, making his heart sad. He prayed to Allah, saying, “I have lost the company of angels”. Allah said, “Go to Makkah, build my house there, and circumambulate it”.So, he went to Makkah with Jibreel Amin. There he prayed and imparted the foundation of the Kaaba. Every human has to go through this cycle known as life from then to now.

Moral Lesson

We can extract three lessons from this story:-

1) Knowledge is power: According to the above story, knowledge is the only cause of the supremacy of man over all other creations of Allah.

2) Pride hath a fall: In this story, Iblees means to be subjected to pride and self-centeredness, which is why it is claimed that everyone who does the same is subject to Iblees.

3)  Worship is goodness, and goodness is worship: We must sacrifice our wills and wishes in front of Allah’s command.
